You can hire a draisine at Namsos Camping and go rail biking six kilometres eastwards to Grytøya along the Namsen river. This trip takes two hours both ways and has almost no elevation. On this lovely trip you pass several railway bridges and previous stations.
River Namsen
The campsite has both tandem and regular draisines, and you can order one by contacting the reception in advance. You will first pass the 21-metre Høknesøra bridge. The salmon river Namsen will follow you on your right all the way up to Grytøya. After a couple of kilometres you will pass Meosen river over another railway bridge, which is 50 metres long.
Gapahuk
You pass Kvatninga station after another kilometre. Here you can have a short break and buy ice cream from the self-service freezer on the platform. 1.5 kilometre further east you will arrive Grytøya where you must return back to the campsite. There is a gapahuk close to the track, a shelter where you can sit down and enjoy the beautiful view over Namsen.
How do I get there?
There are drasines for rental at Namsos Camping. There are bus services to Namsos from Grong which corresponds with the trains from Bodø and Trondheim. The nearest bus stop is Mylla, two kilometres away from the campsite. Widerøe has flights from Rørvik and Trondheim, and the airport is located in walking distance from the campsite.
