When the branch line opened in 1861, timber was transported on trucks from Østmorksaga to Fjellhamar halt on the Trunk Line. The trucks were first pulled by steam engines, but horse power was used from 1885 since it was expensive to maintain the line for heavy locomotives. In 1914 a motor trolley was used instead. Since it did not have brakes, many young workers were killed in accidents while opening and closing all the gates along the line.
Rail Trail
The Losby Line closed in 1940. The track was dismantled by the Germans in 1944 since they needed the iron for the war industry. Since the 1960s the corridor has been used as a cycle and footpath in the summer months and as a ski trail during the wintertime.
