Sleepers on the ground
Today only 3.5 kilometres of the corridor is preserved north of Lønsdal station. You can easily find it by passing the level crossing and continue on the gravel road towards the quarry. From here you will still find sleepers on the ground. The corridor continues as a gravel path close to the Nordland Line.
Great view
The corridor continues as a well-preserved stone ballast after you have passed the first cabin. You will pass through an area with birch trees and get a great view of the Saltdal valley.
Unopened part of the Nordland Line
The corridor joins the Nordland Line after four kilometres. Since it's prohibited to walk along the railway line, you should return back to Lønsdal. But you may continue, at your own risk, as long as you keep away from the track and walk on the rock. When the Nordland Line enters a tunnel, you can climb up the mountainside and continue along an unopened part of the railway on a huge embankment. This stretch was built by the Germans since they wanted to complete the Nordland Line as soon as possible.
