The rail trail along the lake Rore is the most preserved part of the Grimstad Line. The trip starts at Fjære and follows the gravel road along the lake to Roresand Station. Here you will find a beach and remains of the platform.

Holletjern
The rail trail starts where Fjæreveien crosses the stream Sævelibekken on a sharp bend near Fjære Church. Follow the path between the two concrete blocks and into the tiny forest. It continues as a farm road along Holletjern, and here you will find benches with a good view of the lake.
Roresand Station
After you have passed Tauleveien, the rail trail continues as a gravel road until you reach Roresand. After a sharp bend to the left, you will stay close to the water for the next two kilometres pass several rock cuts. When the corridor ends in the county road, continue along the cycle and footpath on the other side. After 200 kilometres the railway continues as a gravel road through an idyllic area where goats usually graze. You will pass the remains of a platform after 700 metres, the only visible object after Roresand Station. There used to be a spur from here to Resvika near Roresanden beach, which is absolutely worth a visit.

How do I get there?
Bus 101 (Eydehavn–Arendal–Fevik–Grimstad) to Vikkrysset, which is located one kilometre away from the trail. Follow the signposted road to Grimstad and then Fjæreveien until you see the rail trail. The express coaches from Oslo and Stavanger stop at Øygårdsdalen, close to Roresanden. If you are coming by car, take the exit 78 on E18 and follow the signs to Fjære church where you can park.
