The Skreia Line has been reconstructed to a cycle route between Bøverbru and Skreia. You will follow the line on a gravel road to Billitt through a beautiful landscape and pass several old and protected station buildings. The last kilometres goes on a pedestrian road to the terminus.
Bøverbru station
You can start south of Bøverbru station. The beautiful yellow building is situated close to the county road, so it's easiest to follow the parallell Gjestrumvegen from the grocery store and cross the county road over the pedestrian bridge. You can also enter the trail directly from the county road by taking a right just after you pass the station.
Kolbu station
The first four kilometres goes along a partly overgrown gravel road, but it's no problem to traverse. The river Bøvra will follow you tightly on your right through a dense forest until the corridor bends eastwards towards Kolbu. The last kilometre has an asphalted surface until you finally reach Kolbu station. Only the freight shed remains after the tickets office burned down in 2004.
Lena station
From Kolbu the corridor continues as a gravel road through a dense forest until it crosses the county road. It continues as a cycle and footpath through an agricultural area to the village Lena. Both the ticket office and the gods shed are preserved, and you will find a cafeteria in the latter building where you can buy something to eat and drink.
Kraby station
Follow the cycle and footpath along Silogata for about 300 metres. The rail trail will continue through another agricultural area. After 1.5 kilometres you will arrive the picturesque Kraby station. The listed building is today used as a gathering place for school children.
Bilitt station
You will arrive Billitt station after three kilometres. The ticket office was demolished in 1977, but a miniature copy has recently been constructed south of where the original building was situated. The loading ramp is kept, but it might be hidden by overgrown vegetation.
Skreia station
The last three kilometres goes slightly downhill on an asphalted cycle and footpath. On your way you will get a great view of Mjøsa, Norway's largest lake. You can take a detour by following the signposted road up to Balke church if you want. The picturesque Skreia station built in dragon style is absolutely worth a visit as well. Here you will find visible railway tracks on the ground as well as the freight building and the locomotive shed.
