This round trip follows the railway corridor of 1893 and passes the previous terminal station Hellarmo. This section had a 750-millimetre gauge track and was replaced by a new corridor in 1915. The newer section, which today is replaced by the county road, had a gauge track of 1067 millimetre. A new halt was opened 250 metres further east of where the rail trail starts, replacing the old terminal station.

Hellarmo station
Start at the eastern side of Hellarmovatnet lake. After 500 metres you will arrive Hellarmo station area. There are few signs of the station building, but you will find several house ruins as well as the old quay. This is where the ore was reloaded after it had been transported by barges over Langvatnet lake from Sulitjelma. There is also a gapahuk here where you can sit down and rest.

Galbmie river
From Hellarmo station the trail follows the railway corridor. After 800 metres you cross the Galbmie river over two bridges. The trail continues another 300 metres until it meets the county road.

How do I get there?

At Finneid exit E6 towards Sulitjelma and follow the national road 830 for about 25 kilometres. You can park at the western side of the lake where the trail starts. If you arrive by bus from Fauske, you must jump off at Bursi bus stop, situated four kilometres further east.
